Visitation will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in League City Octoat 1:30pm, Funeral Service will follow at 2:30pm. Jean was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and previously a member of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and Circle and is presently a member of the Friendswood United Methodist Church. Jean will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She also loved plants and took special pride in her vegetable garden. Jean loved sewing, embroidery, quilting, ceramics and various other arts and crafts. She was born in Indian Winter Quarters on January 8th 1847, and died in Salt Lake City Utah of diarrhea on September 27th 1847. Researchers note: Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Beatrice, Nebraska. Jean became a full-time homemaker when their son Steven was born. The first known burial in the Salt Lake City Cemetery was that of Mary M. Mrs Katherine Sullivan of Salt Lake City, Utah, his youngest sister, also survives. “Dean and Jean” moved to Manhattan, Kansas for Dean to attend Kansas State University and where Jean became a member of the “Dames Club” of K-State. Jean was a member of the Salina Methodist Church and there she met and married her husband, Dean. She attended Brown Mackie Business School and was a receptionist for Great Plains Insurance Company in Salina, Kansas. Jean graduated from Courtland High School in Courtland, Kansas. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven, and her sister Marian Larson.īorn in Courtland, Kansas to Howard and Edna Barber on July 15,1927 she was raised on the family farm in Republic County Kansas. and grandchildren Katherine Kain, Jeffrey Kain, Cameron Kersting, Lauren Kersting and several nieces.
